Novel Teaser
This is a modified version of my agent query. I've omitted a few of the lines that give away parts of the plot:
"The Vathiriel Blade is Shane meets Game of Thrones but with a kick of hope.
The story is an exploration of the power of isolation and the fundamental value of community. It follows the bodyguard of a slain tyrant in his search for meaning after losing his status, his king, and his family in a bloody civil war. What he expects is execution. What he finds is mercy, a mysterious sword, and a possible path to redemption as he fights to protect a small town from a corrupt sheriff as well as the Watcher in the Hill, a legendary creature dwelling deep within the nearby woods. His actions inspire a colorful cast of townsfolk to unite and stand up for themselves to make their small corner of the world a better place.
Though it is classic fantasy fiction, The Vathiriel Blade has the scent of an American western. The main character is reminiscent of Jack Shaefer’s 'rider from nowhere' and the sheriff antagonist resembles a cross between Sheriff Cobb of Silverado and Al Swearengen of Deadwood."

Northeast Quolon Sea Area
This map is too small scale to be valuable in following the plot of the novel, but it
gives an overview of the larger area. The town of Skoagy is located
directly below the Mirtzt Forest in Russe, a nation in the midst of a civil war at the outset of the novel, with the beseiged Easthorn Castle as its capital.
